Tracy Howlett

Tracy has been part of the Tracking Change team since it was first floated as an idea at an MRBB workshop in 2014.  At the time, Tracy was working for the Government of Alberta (GoA) as a Policy & Issues Coordinator and had just joined the MRBB’s Traditional Knowledge, Strengthening Partnerships Working Group (TKSPWG) as the GoA representative.  Five years later, Tracy left her position with the government and joined the Tracking Change Team as our Community Monitoring & Research Manager.  Tracy loves her role in the project as it brings together some of her favourite things – connecting with new people and cultures, helping people access knowledge, data and information, and event planning!

Tracy has a BSc in Environmental Science/Geography from Trent University (2000) and a post-graduate diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Sir Sandford Fleming College (1999).  She also holds an MSc in Intercultural Communication from the University of Warwick (2017).  Tracy has utilized her diverse skillset through various roles with the Ontario and Alberta governments, NGOs, private consulting firms and with the Lil’wat Nation in BC.

When Tracy isn’t busy processing invoices, chasing people for reports, setting up meetings/events and making websites, maps and other communication products, she spends her time with her fiance, Tom, and two step-teens.  She loves travelling, cooking, riding her bike and reading in her hammock (which she purchased on a Tracking Change trip to Brazil!).
